Background
Catherine received her master’s degree in clinical social work at Smith College in 1987. In 1998, she completed two years of post-graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Boston Institute for Psychotherapy. Catherine has extensive experience doing psychotherapy with adults, adolescents, and children in outpatient settings. For four years prior to joining OptiMindHealth, she worked with young adults, college and graduate students in a multi-cultural outpatient clinic. Catherine uses a psychodynamic approach that incorporates skill building with dialectic behavior therapy and cognitive behavior therapy, while creating a safe therapeutic space to develop self-awareness and to facilitate emotional growth. Catherine works collaboratively with clients to reduce symptoms and improve quality of life by recognizing individual emotional strengths as a foundation for therapy. Catherine also uses trauma informed treatment models and attachment theory to help clients recover from trauma and losses, and to resolve interpersonal and work-related problems. Catherine works in the Boston office.
